The Protégé Group

Built by artists.  Built for artists.

 LET'S BE HONEST.

Church artists wrestle with many challenges and questions that most church attenders never face -- with nowhere in the church to turn.  Over time, this creates an atmosphere of spiritual complacency, immaturity, and biblical illiteracy.

Many church artists are involved in no Bible study whatsoever.  Many don’t even listen to the Sunday sermon.

Many church artists are hired professionals who honestly aren’t even Christians.

Many professional Christian artists have no connection or loyalty to any church.

Many non-Christian artists actually grew up performing in church, even have parents who are pastors, yet have left jaded and disinterested in ministry.

Immorality, jealousy, insecurity, cynicism, and spiritual shallowness run rampant in church arts ministries.

Countless conferences and workshops have sought to provide inspiration and resources for programs, but little is offered to build up artists spiritually.

Even leaders in church arts ministries have little or no theological framework to base their ministry on.

And these are just the symptoms.  It's time for Christian artists to help each other and set a new standard of spiritual and creative excellence in ministry.  Finally, a church away from church - a safe place where Christian artists can open up and get some real world teaching and advice:  The Protégé Group.

The Protégé Group is a network founded by Jon Waller with contributors from all fields of art and ministry.
